Badass eras don’t begin at home on a couch surrounded by chip crumbs binge watching Netflix.

Badass eras require some action. That’s why we are a gym, and we offer classes to learn to punch, kick, and grapple with other badass individuals.

Here’s how it works:

You come to class and work your ass off. You get sweaty. You get sore. You get tired. As you’re working, you will begin to realize who you are….

You’re a badass.

Best of all, everyone else will see you’re a badass, too. Talk abut unstoppable—that’s you.

What is Class like?

  • SInce we are a martial arts gym, our classses teach people how to punch, kick, and use elbows and knees to fight. In gym speak, this is known as boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai.

    No matter what class you sign up for, we folllow the same class structure.

    Our classes are based on rounds, or chunks of time. We have 3 minute work rounds followed by 30 second rest periods.

    This is the structure we follow:

    3 rounds of jump rope

    3 rounds of shadow boxing—this is where you practice your punching or kicking skills in the air. Don’t worry, if you have never shadow boxed and don’t know how to do it, the coaches will walk you through it.

    3 rounds of bag work—this is where you put on your gloves (yes, we have gloves you can use) and hit the bags. If you don’t know what you’re doing, the coaches will walk you through this one, too.)

    Drilling—this where the coach gathers the class together and instructs the group in a new skill for the day. It could be a series of punches that you are putting together, how instruction about how you move your feet. The coach will demo move then give you time to practice. The coach also will make sure you have the move down. Each person in every class receives individual instruction tailored to your skill and ability.

    1 round of abdominal exercises-each class ends with one round of an abdominal exercise. It could be crunches, leg lifts, sit ups…..you know the fun stuff.

    Classes last 60 minutes total.

Ishmael White

Meet Ish, the knockout coach of the century! He's been a coach for over a decade and knows the ins and outs of the cage. Whether you're just starting or hold multiple championships, he'll train you in boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Dutch kickboxing. His secret weapon? He's got a knack for turning strikers into champions! Ish is all about unleashing your inner power and building up your unique strengths. When you work with Ish, you leave feeling capable and accomplished.

Macie Schaeffer

Macie is the gym's Great Oz. You can find her behind the curtain, making all the magic happen. When she's not running the show, she's lacing up her boxing gloves and diving headfirst into the world of striking, always seeking new ways to grow and learn. Just being around her will make you feel like a champ!

 

George Gonzales

Meet George, the boxing expert! He's got the moves to make you a champ, and everyone from kiddos to grandparents thrive with his teaching. With four decades of coaching experience under his belt, this guy knows the ropes. He's even been featured on Contender Series, so you know he's the real deal.
George's secret to a knock-out shot? It's all about balance and power! He'll teach you how to pack a serious punch, and his tough love approach will motivate you to go the extra mile. After working with George, you'll come out feeling like a champ, knowing you gave it your all and made some serious progress.

Paul “The dance machine” O’Neal

Paul is a kickboxing and boxing coach. His only rule is there are no rules. He has fought 14 times and counting, and is skilled at passing on real fight knowledge to the badass people he supports.

His fight nickname is “The Dance Machine” and when you go to his classes, you will experience a variety of musical styling from Ska to 80’s. It’s an experience not to be missed! Best of all, you will know you’ve put in the work on the mats, and you’ll leave at least 1% better than you started.

 

Jaycob “The elven prince” cooper

Jaycob coaches Jujitsu and Muay Thai. He holds a purple belt in Jujitsu and has been to Thailand many times to study from the Muay Thai masters.

Jaycob is an excellent teacher and is able to make the most complicated moves seem easy. His calm presence helps you keep your cool when things get heated. You’ll never regret spending some time learning with Jaycob. You will leave his class feeling like you’ve grown as a person, and that’s one of the best feelings there are.

 
 

FAQs

  • You will only get punched in the face if you choose to spar. If you are at Equip Academy for fitness and to learn, there will be no punches to your person.

  • If you have gloves you can bring them, but we also have gloves you can use while you’re here.

    Definitely bring a water bottle.

    Expect to sweat, so you might want to bring a towel.

  • In order to protect the mats and our health, we don’t wear shoe in the gym. About half of us go barefoot, and half of us wear socks. If you have wrestling or boxing shoes that are only worn in the gym those are fine, too.

  • Wear what you feel comfortable in. Some of us wear workout gear, some of us wear shorts—it’s whatever you can move best in!

  • Yes! We can modify all exercises to me your needs. If you show up and do your best, you will make progress. Remember: your best does not look like anyone else’s best. It’s unique to you. Only compare yourself with you, never to anyone else. Your journey is unique to you.

  • Yes, all levels are welcome and encouraged.

  • Yes, you will actually learn skills that are effective in a situation should you need to defend yourself. This is actually what makes us different from the “big box” boxing gyms. They are a great place to get cardio, but they generally don’t teach skill that is applicable to fight situations. To put it bluntly, if you use their “techniques” in real life, you are likely to get knocked out. That’s what you need to know about us--we’re the real shit, not the fake shit.
